"But it's not just learning things that's important. It's learning what to do with what we learn and learning why we learn things at all that matters"

Meet the Staff

Anthony Mangette , MA Library Media Specialist

Becky Robertson, Library Assistant

The library staff works directly with students to teach library and research skills.  We meet with teachers to collaboratively plan research activities that support classroom assignments. We try very hard to stimulate the love for reading which we believe leads to the underlying outcome for the passion of learning.

The Library Information Center houses the library, Cisco Academy, Kinko’s For Kids, three computer labs (a multimedia Mac lab; computer programming lab using wireless Mac computers; and an IT fundamentals lab) and the Katherine Borghi Digital Library. The Library Information Center occupies two floors. Non-fiction, reference and magazines are located on the second floor. The first floor houses fiction, biography and quiet reading. The Library Information Center is a place we celebrate students by displaying their artwork, sculpture, poetry and exemplary work.

Resources available to the learning community

  • 30,000 volumes both fiction and nonfiction, including an extensive reference collection.
  • 73 magazine and periodical titles. The magazine collection supplements the curriculum and staff development as well as for recreational reading. Several titles are in Spanish, French, and German.
  • 1600 videos and DVD’s
  • 19 networked computers with Microsoft Windows XP
  • 10 wireless networked laptops with Microsoft Windows XP
  • Networked laser printers
  • All computers have Microsoft Office Professional, Geometry SketchPad, Fathom, Plato Pathways, Inspiration, educational software, online databases, and access to the Internet

Library Information Center Use

The purpose of the Library Information Center is to serve our learning community in the best way possible. The rules and regulations are made with that purpose in mind. The LIC is used to complete schoolwork, engage in research, and have access to technology. Students with class assignments, which do not require reference materials or access to computers, remain in their study center.

Permission to go to the Library Information Center is contingent on the purpose. Students coming to the library during study center or from a class will have a pass and signs the attendance sheet upon entering the library.
